You must provide us with an approved set of Architectural drawings and Engineering drawings plans or a CAD file by your architect. Also we require a contact name, phone no., a mailing address (and a fax no. if applicable).
Why do most carpenters prefer “stick build” rather than prefab?
This is a common concern raised by a lot of owner-builders, and even some builders. A simple explanation is not all wall manufacturers work off site measurements. Rather, they design prefab walls off the plan. If there is a discrepancy between the approved plan and the slab or footing, then obviously the shoe does not fit the foot. Either the walls need to be trimmed or extended… and who is the poor bugger that has to do this? Yes, the carpenter.

While most others quote at the START of the frame stage. An important aspect is Melbourne Truss uses quality timber products only, we DO NOT use F5 pine in our frames for structural purposes. If you choose Melbourne Truss, you are NOT pre-occupied between the hardware store and the carpenter in getting bits and pieces to complete the frame. Not mentioning the delays, the hassle and stress, and the loss of income due to time off from work, these bits and pieces add up to be MORE… much more in the end than our fixed price.
